Remote control to operate anything and everything. Have you noticed? (Thank god if you haven’t, then I can sound wise) we have a remote control for everything. Started with TV, then to ACs, then to fancy light bulbs, fans, window shutters, panoramic roofs, well to almost anything. Even a mobile phone has a remote control, some call it a smart watch, agree it’s a bit more than a remote, well you expect that, having paid half the price of your phone.
The development of remote control for your devices is still ongoing. Someone thought, well we have too many and we need to consolidate them. Instead of making 1 smart remote with small buttons on top which reads “Fan, TV, AC, light bulb” and make the buttons multipurpose to operate the device (if you have got the idea how brilliant I’m, stop reading before I destroy it in my next sentence) they introduce smart speakers (Alexa, Google, Siri etc).
What’s next to smart speakers then ? Too much complication generally drives people to go conventional / simple systems. Also true if it’s catalysed by a push from a trend setter (like a movie start or YouTube star). If some technologically advanced company launches a new conventionally styled product (antique looking kettle, flip or foldable phone, analogue Roman numerals iwatch face) all the complications become old fashioned. I’m interested to see the next step to remote control or smart speakers.
