Im not particularly fond of the below write-up, its not even a write-up but an idea: read on if you still want to...
I have 10 apps on my phone and 10 bookmarks in my browser. The 10 bookmarks in my browser occupy less space and looks less cluttered as compared to odd shapes in round edged rectangles. I cannot say an app is used more or a web page is used more, but for sure a browser is used the most.
What is the reason for everyone to create an App? Is it really cheaper to host? Decrease users from venturing out? There must be a reason. What ever it could be, let’s live with it.
If this is what we are going to live with why can’t we have an app browser? (Not a store which helps look up apps and install, but one which holds all the installed ones like a bookmark). Just links to the app installed at the expense of the provider in some cloud and not at the expense of my phone’s storage. This way our phones don’t need so much space, doesn’t look cluttered and some bunch of other possibilities. By the way, isn’t something already in place for our laptops called virtual desktop ? Why can’t we have a combination of browser and Virtual desktop for our phones ?
